Dún Uladh Community Relations Programme
Dun Uladh Cultural & Heritage Centre have been for the last number of years running an interactive, Community Relations Programme aimed at P5-P6 children. This 4week programme introduces children to the cultural diversity of Northern Ireland through the traditional arts. The Access to Traditional Arts Program aims to:
- To support and develop children's sense of identity, culture, heritage and background and promote a better understanding and awareness of the two main traditions that and other cultures which exist within Northern Ireland.
- Increase children's abilities to relate to people of different cultures within Northern Ireland by developing a better understanding of their own culture.
- Give children the confidence through structured activities to engage constructively in conversations regarding their own beliefs and that of other traditions, articulating their own views whilst listening to others.
- Through experiential learning activities, which will involve debate and problem solving through role-plays, children will challenge their own beliefs and attitudes to the two main traditions and other cultures that exist within Northern Ireland.
- Help prepare children for our changing and diverse society within which they can, as equals, move towards a shared future through deeper understanding, engagement and level of trust.

To quote from the Council of Europe (1978)
"A society's cultural life is rich if people in the society can communicate with each other, describe their reality and their experiences, voice their feelings, understand one another and thus - in the end - be in a position to respect one another."
Investment in our cultural capital is therefore fundamental to the achievement of A Shared Future.
